Life cannot possibly get any better!

Friday: 1:50 piano audition...2:10 vioin audition.

Not exactally the best way to approach things. went into violin audition after simply pulling it out and tuning and had to perform for not only my instructor but the instructor who is gonna take over when my professor goes on sabatical. playing something infront of someone i have never met who is obviously going to be judging me creates a rather uncomfortable situation.

So i completely bombed my audition.

So i welled in self pity for a while and then spent too much money at the mall, trying to forget about screwing up my music career.

Sunday: 3:58 Orchestra audition.

Walking into the audition i knew that i would have no chance at concertmistress, b/c that had already been awarded to the girl from last year. So i was merely hoping for a principal player.

Entered the room where life is changed for the better or worse and started playing. The first few notes scared me shitless b/c i had forgotten that the room has the most incredible acoustics! And i mean perfect but better acoustics!

And finaly i didnt really screw up anything! That has never ever happened to me before! AAHHHH!!!

The high from yesterday remained when i woke up this morning and went to Pratt to check the results. I nearly floated away when i found out i got Principal 2nd!!!

But...

Life gets even better!

Tonight at rehearsal the director pulled me aside and asked me if i would be interested in CONCERTMISTRESS for next semester!!!!!!!!!!!

CONCERTMISTRESS!!!!!!!!!

AAAHHHHH!!!!!!!

I think i skipped home.

Gosh, im such a music dork.

Made

Liz and i have suddenly developed a burning desire to get on the MTV show, Made. How wicked awesome would that be? I mean if we could do it. we have our audition vide all planned out flawlessly and we think we have a pretty good chance at getting it considering our other interests. Maybe MTV will think its hilarious that two musicians and dancers would want to throw themselves into a sport that warrants its fair share of broken bones.

On second thought maybe we should try for extreme dirt biking instead.

Carpet shopping

I have been blessed with teh opportunity to live in the most beautiul dorm on campus. It looks like a huge mansion, or...um...an asylum.

Nevertheless, it has an elevator and a game room in the living room, so i will never complain.

Moving was interesting, given the aount of shit that i have accmulated over the years. I think i have inherited genes from the pack rat family.

Or a chipmunk. Everyone says i eat, sleep and vaquely act like one. What was it in eigth grade? A crazy dancing chipmunk?

My roomate Liz and i have continued our antics from last year. I think that all the energy that emerges from our room scares my other hall mates. I mean, were both dancers, musicians and artists...think of what all can come out of that.

Yesterday we went shopping for a carpet. I swear that if someone had been videotaping this moment we would have won the AFV $10,000 prize.

I dont even know how to describe it in words, so in short: I was trying, well pretty much struggling to move the carpet over to where Liz. The rest is a blur, but i fell to the florr like a sack of potatoes w/o my knees even bending then popped up looking like a beet!

Its so much funnier when Liz tells it. She's the master of impersonations and comedy. I swear it runs in her family b/c her uncle is George Carlin!

I am officially 13 again.

What in the world is a relatively sane eighteen year old doing voluntarily watching "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" and "Princess Diaries 2"?!?

I think i have magically warped back to my prepubescent years when entertainment consisted of horrible plotlines, acting, and the absence of all things rational...well rationality is overrated anyway.

Sometimes bonding with the lil sis can be quite enjoyable.

But, i have absolutely no money left.

The Village: definitly one of the better movies i've seen, though it has been receiving mixed reviews...stupid press. due to the overwhelming increase in adrenaline and the development of some pretty interesting mind fears, i stayed at chris' house for safety. (thanks chris!) However, in the long run it did not provide nearly as much security as i would have wished for.

come morning (well, more like 1:00pm) i find a wonderful note from the oh so friendly Lake Forest PD informing me of my violation of some utterly ridiculous and absurd ordinance forbidding cars from parking on the street overnight. Their reasoning...

THEY CAN'T CLEAN THE STREETS!!!

interesting...1) why the hell do our streets need to be cleaned ever night? the town is so worried about their appearance. 2) is that need for perfection somehow related to the Stepford ideals? or is it simply b/c LF has way too much money and they cant think of any better way to spend it?

(well...judging from the menial things that can fine one for, this one seems to make sense.)

whatever. b/c of my negligence in reporting back to my parents about the change in plans i have officially lost the use of my mother's car. looks like im not going to be driving for a while. oh well. it's just another double standard that is typical in the life of a young adult.

see, we are expected to live a life as an adult, where which what we do is our responsibility. This is reiteratted by our parents in the ever so frequent since-you're-an-adult-the-costs-and-consequences-of-your-actions-are-not-ours at all.

However, they are able to take away one's independence simply due to the fact that we are exhibiting our independence.

(i've prolly lost most people at this point; it sounded better in my head)

wtf?!? Do they have to know where i am at all times??? it's not like im out smoking crack or anything...

but, what can one do. ride it out until i return to school seems like the only option.
